Summer Only Classes The progression to the mastery of the safety skills includes water adjustment, blowing bubbles, kicking, getting comfortable with having water poured on face, facial immersion, and elementary swimming movements both underwater and at the surface. There are two basic safety skills we teach through the progression of exercises and activities we work on every class. The first safety skill teaches a toddler to enter the water, turnaround, and grab the side of the pool. This is the most practical method of self-rescue for infant/toddlers as the majority of accidents occur near the edge of the pool or other bodies of water. The second safety skills teaches the infant/toddler enter the water and swim limited distances to safety, using a variety of practical techniques of moving through the water. We teach a basic underwater swim which progresses to a underwater swim with a "pop-up" or "roll-over" to achieve the breath, and we also teach a paddling stroke for those not comfortable swimming underwater.

FAQ:
What should I bring for my swim lessons?
We recommend a set of goggles and a towel.
Where should I meet for my lesson?
You will sign in at the table located on the shallow end of the pool, then an instructor will lead the children to their spots. There are benches you may sit on at the deep end of the pool while you wait for your lesson.
As a swim participant do I have access to a locker room?
Yes, both the men's and women's locker room is accessible from the pool deck. You will also have access to showers.
How old does my child have to be to enroll in Learn to Swim?
We recommend that your swimmer be at least 3 years old.
What are the requirements for each level?
Each level has specific sets skills that need to be met. Look under descriptions for more information regarding skill sets and level appropriateness.
How do I know when my child is ready for the next level?
Each participant will receive a progress report at the end of each session that will indicate what level the instructor feels he or she is ready for.
How many lessons do I receive per session?
Our sessions run in 3 week blocks, so your child will receive 6 lessons.
What is the instructor to student ratio?
We restrict our class size to 4:1, four students to one instructor.
Are the classes divided by age?
Our classes are arranged by ability and not by age. The more advanced your child is, the higher the level he or she will be in.
What is the difference between Group Lessons and Private Lessons?
Group lessons involve more than one child during a 60 minute time slot whereas a Private lesson is 1 child with 1 instructor. Private lessons provide one on one attention and can help further your child’s swimming abilities. Technique and skills are highly focused on in order to build upon a swimmers foundation.
When does registration begin?
Registration can be done at anytime, but you must be registered one week prior to start date.
